The first Tuesday I went to the grocery store after leaving corporate was like a mini-vacation in itself 🙃

Yes! The mid-week, during the day grocery store experience is unreal. It feels luxurious compared to the weekend or after work hustle to get groceries.

Totally agree! Weekends for me tend to feel more like a "to-do list" than the perceived "rest and relaxation" that's it often described to be.

I won't lie -- I employ the "Random Tuesday" approach quite often. Gosh it feels good! I've often referred to it as "Stealth Freedom", because I can go almost anywhere and do almost anything and have practically no crowds, competition, or expectations.

The last time I took one -- just three weeks ago -- my wife and I wandered through a museum, had a peaceful lunch at a place that's jam-packed on the weekends, got a couple's massage, and literally just felt the weight of the world fall off our shoulders for the entire day. It's hard to forget days like that!

Stealth freedom is such a good phrase for this, Justin. Thanks!

This is so good. Taking a random mid-week day off feels a bit like playing hooky from school. Totally with you on feeling like you’ve discovered a different world.

My wife and I do this every now and then; we’ll go for lunch together, go for a walk. Last time we ended up doing late afternoon karaoke after a long lunch in the garden of a lovely local restaurant - one of the ones we say we should always go to but never get around to normally.

I’m more flexible with my time, but it’s easy for my wife to book an afternoon off in advance too. Our next one is in a few weeks and I’m very much looking forward to it!

Somedays, I left the office early while there was still daylight and the same city looked different. Taking a random weekday off is a great idea. But for that, we need to have the kind of work where we can do this. Many times, I think of doing it. Alone or with my wife, but then we think that we might need that off in some urgent situation, like kids getting sick or daycare announcing a holiday for some reason. Maybe one day, we will be better able to take that random weekday off.

It’s not something you can do all of the time, obviously. But if you can, I highly recommend it.

I love random Tuesday's off. Or a Monday. Or a Wednesday. or a Friday and then have a 3 day weekend :) But it's true, during the week, you are not swimming up the busy stream and it helps with your daily flow. That's the true value in working for yourself and not adhering to the world of work's agenda being dictated 5 days a week.

Love taking weekdays off.

It feels so much more rebellious!

My goal lifestyle is taking a nice long bike ride on an uncrowded trail on a Tuesday morning. Then working Saturday, mostly.

In a past career in the corporate world, I elected to work in the office on Saturday mornings, and having Wednesday's off every week in return - in the winter it meant skiing in VT on a weekday with cheaper lift tickets and no lift lines to wait in, in the summer it meant a random beach day with places to park and room to throw the frisbee in the sand - as the unemployable misfit I've become, this completely resonates - but most people still live for Friday and dread Monday mornings - ultimately if you're drawn to what you do and it feeds your desired lifestyle, there is no "friday" or "monday" essence....
